The mad dash at the start

It has been a while since I have posted, and I have lots to catch up (as always), but I just had to write about the girls cross county today.
The weather was absolutely shitty, who thought it was a good idea to have cross country in the middle of winter?  I was feeling quite nervous for Paddy as I wasn't sure how she would go, she had done really well in the practice runs, but I was just being a nervous Mum!
Anyway our little Paddy who is one of the smallest girls in her year, and only a year ago had her foot amputated did the race and finished, we were so proud of her!  Mum said the people next to her were saying how marvellous she was, Mum got very emotional, I missed all this as I was running around trying to get photo's!  I did hear at the end everyone was chanting Paddy! Paddy! Go Paddy, how fabulous is that!
I said to Paddy I couldn't have been more proud if she had won!  Georgie did really well too as she ended up in A & E with a raging temperature, I got phoned up to come and get her from school, as she had fallen asleep, poor lamb!
All and all a rather eventful day!

New fabric for Paddy's leggie......

On Monday we had an appointment with the limb centre as they thought Paddy might need a whole new leg.  As she only recently had the one she has got adjusted, it turned out she didn't need a new one.  However as we had been to the fabric shop and chosen a selection of fabric and they didn't like to let her down they put a new skin on her leggie anyway, they are just so fabulous at the Limb Centre and will do anything for the kids!
As you can see from the pictures Paddy chose three fabrics, we did this because not all fabrics work on a leg.  Number one choice was the gold, followed by the stars and then the leopard skin.  Paddy had her news in her class on Monday before her appointment and took the fabrics in and the general consensus was to go for gold!
They tested all three and all worked really well, the leopard skin looked fantastic I was really surprised, maybe next time!
The reason the leg looks more bronze than gold is the resin makes the fabric go darker, needless to say Paddy is thrilled with her leggie!

Poppy's birthday.....

Recently my Dad just had his 72nd birthday, Dad hasn't been so well over the last few years, so it is always nice to celebrate a birthday......Dad reckons he is like a cockroach very hard to exterminate, he likes to look on the sunny side of life.....so hope you had a great birthday Dad!!

Dinner at the Walsh's.....

What do you get when you get three families together for dinner?  Lots of kids, lots of fun, lots of noise and lots of food.  Several weeks ago now we had some family friends around for dinner, and to say it was chaotic was an understatement, I think my Dad hid in the living room the whole time and only surfaced for the food, and then he made a hasty retreat!
As a kid I used to love going around to our cousins for dinner, we all had the best time and this reminded me of that.  We are at the stage with our kids were everything is so much easier, no rushing home to get babies to bed etc, etc.  I know our winter has only just started, but roll on summer so we can get back into the barbies!!

Coming soon....

Updates will be coming soon, sorry have been very slack on the blog front......I am hooked on Facebook!

Ice-skating.....

Yesterday we went ice-skating, what a laugh!  I haven't been skating since I was a teenager, many years ago.  It was just the same, loud, cold, and lots of kids tearing around at 100 miles an hour.  It was such good fun, I really enjoyed myself, and I managed to stay upright the whole time! Well the same could not be said for my beloved husband..... to say he hated it is an under statement, which of course I found highly amusing, (the sympathetic wifey that I am), anyway the kids enjoyed once they got their ice-skating feet, and with the help of a frame they were off.  We most definitely will be doing it again, whether John will come with us , well that is another story!

Me having got my balance!!

John and Emma, I don't know who needed the frame more!!

Movie night at the van der Peets....

Saturday night we went around to our friends the van der Peet's. Every year they put on a movie night in their back garden, this year they showed 'Chitty,Chitty Bang Bang'.  Their were 35 kids plus adults!  I was very impressed, as they had popcorn, drinks and icecream for the children, plus a fantastic selection of food for the adults, what a night!
