It's official!

Yes, it is huge news I know but Emma can tie her own shoe laces! I can't remember when I learnt to tie my own laces, but when I was little velcro had yet to be invented. As a parent with three little children I think velcro on shoes has to be the best thing since sliced bread! It sure makes life a little easier that is for sure. For some reason today Emma wanted to learn to tie bows so we set to it, and it didn't take too long either. She has since spent the rest of the day tying up anything she can get her hands on !

A trip to the Auckland Museum

Last week we went on a kindy trip to The Auckland Museum and it was brilliant (chaotic but good). We went to see a Maori Cultural show where we saw lots of different dances and the Haka (the war dance that the All Blacks do before a rugby match), it was great to see it done with everyone in traditional costume!
The kids all had a brilliant time as they have been learning the Haka at kindy, they also got to see lots of things like a wharenui (meeting house) and the picture of them standing in front of a storage house.
I really enjoy going on school trips as the kids just have such a good time and I have great memories of going on them when I was little, I hope my kids remember them too!

Jibadee?

You are probably wondering what jibadee is? Well on you last day of kindy before you go to school the person leaving gets a cake (made from playdough), a hat, and a magic wand. Then they have to do a dance where the class forms a circle and in this case Heidi (P & G's great friend), they skip around and around and when the music stops they pick someone to join them, and so on and so on. Georgie and Paddy got picked first and they were so pleased and it is so cute to watch!!

Swimming Lessons!

Today being the first day of the school holidays, was also the first day of swimming lessons. The girls are doing an intensive course, so they will be swimming every day. This was the first day back in the pool since Paddy had her big surgery and I have to say I was a little bit nervous. I was wondering firstly how they would go, and secondly would we be stared at, people can't help staring and that is when Paddy has her leg on! Anyway we got to the pool and it was nice and quiet, everyone was prepared for Paddy and I have to say she was like a fish in water!! Not having her foot didn't affect her at all, it was incredible! She could keep her balance, and the pool has got a great set up with steps going into the water and rails everywhere so she could hang on. Emma was great giving her the big thumbs up, I think she was the proud big sister. Georgie, well she was just Georgie doing rolly poly's and just having a good time. John and I were so pleased, I am just so glad she enjoyed herself.

I have lots of other news to catch up on, but I have jobs to do so it will have to be later.

Happy Birthday Nanny Pat

Tomorrow is my Mum's birthday, so tonight we went to our favourite restaurant for dinner (I overate as always!) The kids just love it there as they do fantastic pizza's and also delicious steaks, and the best thing is it is a child friendly restaurant! We love that!

I was thinking today about my Mum, as when she was my age now (41 argggggh), I was 19, I just can't get my head around that. I could no more imagine having a 19 year old than flying to the moon, seriously it just makes my mind boggle! The great thing is Mum is such a young Nanny, it is brilliant, I just hope my girls don't have their children as old as I did otherwise I will be too old to do anything!!

I am also feeling a bit nostalgic so here are a couple of old photo's plus a couple from tonight!

This photo I think is from about 1973, I am on the left, then my sister Phillipa my brother Jonny and my Dad Tony

Mum and Dad from 1962 or 1963, don't you just love the Beehive!!!

Another tooth gone!

Last week (sorry I have been a bit hopeless on the blog), Emma lost her third tooth. Our little girl is growing up!! She is very pleased with herself, and I think she is really looking forward to losing her two top teeth as quite a few of her friends have lost theirs, the only trouble is when Emma loses a tooth she gets freaked out by the bleeding, (she is a drama queen our Emma), but she quickly gets over it!

Ballet at Heidi's!!

Last week Paddy and Georgie had a play date at their good friend Heidi's house after kindy, Amy was also there and they had a great time being little ballerina's! Paddy is in the yellow tutu!

Biking at Cornwall Park

A few Sunday's ago it actually stopped raining! Hard to believe I know but the sun actually decided to come out, so the Walsh Family decided to go bike riding at Cornwall Park. The kids loved it, and it was so nice to finally get out and do something. I packed a picnic, and we just had such a nice time, roll on summer! I think every other Aucklander had the same idea as there were people everywhere all enjoying themselves.

Cross Country

A couple of Friday's ago Emma had her school cross country. Like her Mum and Dad, Emma is not a natural athelete but she sure does give it a go, and the main thing is she really enjoys it! More than I can say for me, running across muddy fields in the middle of winter, hmmmm not my idea of fun, maybe I enjoyed it as a kid but have blocked out the memory! So here she is, GO EMMA!!!!!!
The mad rush at the start

Half way there!

Nearly at the finish line!!
