I almost forgot.......

Paddy had a visit to the Limb Centre on Monday. They are really pleased with how she is walking, her stumpy is looking great, and there is no rubbing happening. She doesn't need a new leg just yet. Paddy is very little, she is about 6 cms shorter than Georgie even though they are identical, I think she is very dainty!! I am so pleased that they are happy with how she is going!!

Catch up time

Wow have things been busy, I can't believe it has been about three weeks since my last blog! I have been busy baking, I have made eight small Christmas cakes, four medium sized ones. John and I have done about 55 cards, sent presents off overseas, Christmas shopping, plus the everyday stuff, Play ball, swimming, athletics, school and kindy!!! It is all good through, the weather has been fabulous, warm and sunny and it is almost the summer holidays. I can't wait, no school lunches for six weeks, YAY!!!!!! Emma got her report today and she did really well, we are very proud of our Emma!

John's Birthday...

On our front steps

At GPK restaurant

This week John celebrated his 46th birthday (hope he doesn't mind me revealing his true age!) On his actual birthday we went to our lovely friends Nicola and Andrew's house, and we feasted on scallops, smoked salmon, baked peaches and birthday cake, it was fantastic! The next day the family all went out to dinner (why at this time of year all you seem to do is eat?). We had a lovely time as well, have to make sure I do extra mileage with the walking this week.

Friends for dinner

All the kids eating!!

My brother Jonny and Lisa (his girlfriend)

Everyone getting stuck in!

As we are heading towards Christmas we thought we would have a few friends over for dinner, and what a perfect time to get out the Choccy Fountain, let me tell you it was delicious. I did a big platter of fruit and nougat and then everyone just dipped in, it was so good!! A big hit with everyone especially the kids!

A school visit

Georgie and Paddy

Georgie, Paddy and Emma

To get the girls ready for school, they have two visits. Of course they wanted to wear their uniforms, I can't believe how grown up they look! They loved their visit, they spent a morning in a classroom doing lots of activities. The first thing Paddy said was, 'I've got a magic leg'. The other children were completely fascinated and they all tried very hard not to stare, Paddy didn't mind she just explained the best she could.
So Paddy and Georgie only have just over a week of kindy left, and I just can't believe that they are starting school next year, where have those five years gone. Emma my big girl is going to be in Year three next year, it only seemed like yesterday that she was starting school, I think I am going to have an empty nest syndrome when they all will be at school!

School sports day....

Emma in the sack race

Emma on the moon hopper

Billie and Emma in the three legged race

Emma in the relay

A few weeks back the Junior School had its sports day, again the weather was fabulous, so I packed a picnic lunch, along with lots of other Mums and Dads and it was a great day! Emma seemed to really enjoy herself, and even Paddy and Georgie went in a pre-school running race. Paddy did so well, she didn't come last and that was all that mattered to her. I know in this P.C world we live in it doesn't matter if you win or lose, blah, blah, blah but to Paddy it does, and she was thrilled to bits that she didn't!!!! My Mum who spent the day with us got all emotional watching Paddy, as she tried so hard, and of course we can't forget Georgie, I think she got second!!

Georgie and Hannah

I have been so busy and I haven't blogged for a while, I have a few minutes before dinner so I will try to catch up on a bit of news. First off we had the kindy disco, the girls had a great time, and the weather was just brilliant for it. There was a bar.b.que and lots of great music. The girls danced the whole time, I think John enjoyed having a little boogie as well!!!!!

Polly gets a hair cut....

We got Polly firstly for the girls and secondly as she wasn't supposed to moult, well she does and I CAN"T stand dog hair!!!! It goes every where, the other day I cleaned the extraction unit above the stove and it was covered in hairs, how do they get up there for goodness sake? So Polly went to the groomers, and she came out with bows in her ears. Paddy, Georgie and I all went awwwww when we saw her, she looked so cute! I took her into school to show Emma's class, the children loved it! Anyway has it made it any better with the dropping of the hair, I am afraid not, but the girls love her and thats all that matters really!

Going, going, gone.......

Today we had a huge conifer tree cut down from our back garden. It was such a massive tree and in winter completely shaded our garden which made it a damp place to be! I also cannot stand conifers, they constantly drop mess all year round and they just grow so huge. I couldn't believe the guy up the tree, I got so nervous seeing him up there, with the chainsaw swinging around but he got it down I think in just over an hour, the garden looks great, heaps of light, we are going to plant another tree, one that loses it leaves in winter and also has lots of colour, any ideas anyone?

Emma loses a front tooth

On Tuesday after swimming Emma lost a front tooth on a drink bottle! She screamed so loud John thought she had shut her hand in the car door, Emma is not good with blood, especially when it is her own!! She is very pleased with herself though, she feels like a very big girl, I can't believe how quickly they grow up. It only felt like yesterday when she got her first tooth, and now she is losing her baby teeth!!

The van der Peets for dinner!!

Here are the girls enjoying an ice cream after dinner at our house last night. I took about 10 photo's and in every single one, one of them was pulling a face, I think children's photographers must have the patience of a saint!

Old MacDonald's Farm

Paddy and Georgie went to a birthday party last weekend and the entertainment was Old MacDonald's Farm. They had such a brilliant time and they were so excited when they came home and told us all about it. Paddy and Georgie just love animals in fact so much so, their greatest wish is to go and live on a farm!! Can't imagine me in wellies though!!!

Happy Halloween

Paddy and Georgie 'Witch' off to kindy!

The gang off trick or treating

I know I am only a week late, but I had a rather nasty tummy bug which meant I haven't done much and only catching up with things now! John took Emma, Paddy and Georgie plus Saskia and Heidi out 'Trick or Treating'. They had such a good time, and especially enjoyed their little bag of goodies afterwards! The only downside it was so cold, but I don't think the kids minded too much. They are all so cute!

Home Baking

Yesterday Emma had a party to go to at Chipmonks which is an indoor adventure playground that does parties. When I was dropping her and her friend Lucy there, Paddy and Georgie were so upset they couldn't stay they cried all the way home in the car. So a bit of home baking was needed and they were very happy indeed. They just love to cook, but I think they just like licking the bowl at the end, yum I did as a kid in fact I still do!

A shopping trip

Yesterday my Mum, myself and Paddy went shopping. Paddy didn't go to kindy yesterday because she said she had a sore tummy, hmmmmm I just think she wanted to go out with her Mum and Nanny. Having twins you very rarely have one on one time with either of them, in fact I think it was the first time Paddy had been out without her twinny Georgie! It actually felt a little odd, but Paddy LOVED it. She was like the cat who got the cream, I think she practically hugged herself the whole time! At one stage when we were sitting down for a cup of tea she whispered to me 'I like it without Georgie' (I don't think she really meant it, but I think it was very novel to be on her own!) You forget what it was like just to have one, with Emma we did so much with her, but then 20 months after she was born we had another two babies and things have been chaotic ever since, and you know what I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!!

The Walking School Bus!

Emma has joined the Walking School Bus and she was very excited about it. There is different points where everyone meets up and then it is off to school. Today John was one of the conductors! He wasn't to sure about the yellow jacket he had to wear! What a good sport John! I think the walking bus is such a good idea, it gets the kids walking, the parents get to chat to other parents and it is good for the environment! After watching a few shows on really fat people I think this is a good way to get children into exercise and the really enjoy it.
One of the shows we watched there was this man who hadn't got out of bed for four years and he weighed over 1000 pounds, that is so huge it is unbelievable. Can you imagine eating that much food to get that big. The amazing thing was someone took him all this food as he hadn't left his bed in those four years, and he only ate junk food. He was eating 30,000 calories a day, that is what a normal man eats in two weeks! I think I am still in shock!

Haircuts for the Walsh Girls

As it was the school holidays and the girls hadn't had their cut since January I thought it was high time they had a haircut. The girls love going to the hairdressers! They get their hair washed, cut and blow dried and they think it is the business! Very grown up indeed! Here is the end result, very nice. It is hard to believe but they had about three inches cut off their hair, if only my hair grew so quickly!
